A good recipe for a dark chocolate cake...
Ingredients
2 Cups Flour
2 Cups Sugar
¾ Cup Hershey's Dark Cocoa
2 Teaspoons Baking Soda
2 Eggs (I use large eggs)
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 Cup Buttermilk
1 Cup light Vegetable Oil
1 ½ Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
1 Cup Boiling Water
Preparation
Preheat Oven to 300° F (This is a slow bake chocolate cake recipe.)
2. Lightly grease (use the same vegetable oil as in the ingredients list) and flour a
9 x 13 in. Baking Dish. (It's a one layer chocolate cake!)
3. Place all the ingredients adding the dry parts first into a mixing bowl.
4. Mix at medium or medium high speed until all ingredients are blended and smooth.
5. Pour into the greased and floured baking dish
6. Bake for 1 hr.
7. Test by sticking cake with toothpick or fork. If it comes out clean, it's done!
8. Allow the cake to cool.
Frost with White Vanilla Icing, example folows:
White Vanilla Icing
Ingredients
1½ lbs. (24 oz.) Powdered Confectioners Sugar
¼ Pound Stick of Butter (Softened)
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Pinch of Salt
Milk
Preparation
1. Place the powdered sugar, softened butter, and vanilla in a mixing bowl. Add a little milk.
2. Mix at high speed until smooth and creamy. Add milk as required to get the right consistency.
Of course, you can use any frosting of your choosing. Now enjoy!
