According to one study, there is chemical called Nitric Oxide s produced and regulated by the consumption of cocoa and dark chocolate. Nitric Oxide is a compound essential for a healthy blood flow and for lowering blood pressure.

Other studies reveal that a Flavanol in cocoa triggers the removal of fatty substances in the bloodstream in order to avoid clogging of the arterial and can also help in preventing blood clots.

There are 4,000 kinds of compound sources, called Flavonoids which which have the potential for this kind of activity and one of those compound is found in chocolate. The term used for these flavonoids in cocoa is flavanols.

In general, studies have found that this dark chocolate has higher concentrations of flavonoids as compared to white and milk chocolate. The more processed a chocolate product is, the less essential flavonoids it contains.

Chocolate is known as a good source for promoting good blood flow. According to studies and researches performed by scientists and researchers, a low dose of aspirin performs exactly the same was as a flavonol that can be found in cocoa and chocolate. So it is reasonable to expect that dark chocolate may reduce the possibility of blood clotting, risks of possible stroke or even heart attacks in a person with high blood pressure.

This could mean that a person who is to aspirin or has other reasons for not taking aspirin may eat a flavanol rich food like dark chocolate and receive the same benefits of the low dose aspirin routine. Though chocolate is not a medicine, its use maybe considered an alternative approach.

It has also been observed that several bioactive components, compounds and substances in chocolate promote a state of alertness, promote a well-being, and even lessen pain. Studies indicate that a stimulants such as caffeine, theobromine, phenylethylamine, and tyramine provide a fogy brain a needed lift.

Tryptophan, an essential amino acid works to lessen any form of anxiety through its use in the production of the neurotransmitter serotonin; as well as endorphins - the body's neutral opiates; which are categorized to lessen body pain.

Other compounds in dark chocolate like Anandamid promote relaxation. Chocolate maybe a natural kind of analgesic.

Splenda sweetener Health question?

I have a ushually breakfast yogurt sweetened with Splenda for Luch i have a jelly sweetened with Splenda and some fruit and a rice cake. Then I come home I have some snacks and tea with two packets of Splenda and dinner I eat a regular meal then i ushually a gelatin dessert SPLENDA chocolate .. is this going to have a negative effect on me in the long run? spelnda no negative side effects to health?

I graduated eat 1 to 2 seats Daily Lindt chocolate 85% black (which was starting to taste too sweet for me, believe it or not) and 100% unsweetened chocolate (organic cacao tips Dagoba - the only ingredient is 100% organic cacao beans). 1 / 4 oz of these things goes a long way. Going 100% is not for the faint of heart, obviously.
